The PEWs microarchitecture: reducing complexity through data-dependence based decentralization
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper presents a microarchitecture based on exploiting the locality of data dependences for e ciently executing many instructions per cycle. The instruction window is split into multiple hardware units, and the instruction stream is distributed among them in such a way that data dependent instructions are generally allocated to the same unit. The fetch bandwidth of the processor is enhanced by doing control predictions at a level higher than that of branches, which permits fetching a large number of instructions every cycle despite the presence of taken branches in the instruction stream. The microarchitecture also o -loads most of the work involved in instruction distribution decisions to hardware that is not in the critical path of execution. It also uses a novel hardware mechanism to resolve memory references. The paper also presents detailed simulation results, which show the capability of the proposed microarchitecture to achieve high issue rates. A sensitivity study of the microarchitecture shows its issue rate to be steadily increasing as the number of hardware units is increased from 1 to 8.

Implementing paediatric early warning scores systems in the Netherlands: future implications.
BACKGROUND Paediatric Early Warning Scores (PEWS) are increasingly being used for early identification and management of clinical deterioration in paediatric patients. A PEWS system includes scores, cut-off points and appropriate early intervention. In 2011, The Dutch Ministry of Health advised hospitals to implement a PEWS system in order to improve patient safety in paediatric wards. The obje...
متن کاملA multicentre, randomised intervention study of the Paediatric Early Warning Score: study protocol for a randomised controlled trial
BACKGROUND Patients' evolving critical illness can be predicted and prevented. However, failure to identify the signs of critical illness and subsequent lack of appropriate action for patients developing acute and critical illness remain a problem. Challenges in assessing whether a child is critically ill may be due to children's often uncharacteristic symptoms of serious illness. Children may ...
متن کاملExpressing Workflow Patterns for Web Services: The Case of PEWS
PEWS is a language for the implementation of web service interfaces. PEWS programs can be used for the description of both individual and composed web services. Individual web services can be built up from Java programs. Composed web services are built from simpler services. PEWS operators describe the allowed workflow of the web service, i.e.the order in which the operations of the web service...
متن کاملPaediatric early warning systems for detecting and responding to clinical deterioration in children: a systematic review
OBJECTIVE To systematically review the available evidence on paediatric early warning systems (PEWS) for use in acute paediatric healthcare settings for the detection of, and timely response to, clinical deterioration in children. METHOD The electronic databases PubMed, MEDLINE, CINAHL, EMBASE and Cochrane were searched systematically from inception up to August 2016. Eligible studies had to ...
متن کاملReducing Hardware Complexity of Wallace Multiplier Using High Order Compressors Based on CNTFET
Multiplier is one of the important components in many systems such as digital filters, digital processors and data encryption. Improving the speed and area of multipliers have impact on the performance of larger arithmetic circuits that are part of them. Wallace algorithm is one of the most famous architectures that uses a tree of half adders and full adders to increase the speed and red...
